His expertise includes fluid flows, aerodynamic design and testing. He regularly serves as technical reviewer for several journals and national and international conferences and is an Associate Fellow of AIAA.

Robert Bell is Executive Director of the Society of Satellite Professionals International (SSPI), where he is responsible for the programs, finances and operations of the Society. He has over a decade of experience in the management of nonprofits in the satellite industry. During his tenure, SSPI has grown its membership an average of 60% per year, increased revenues by 30%, created a continuing education program and new networking events, and developed new chapters to expand the Society’s international reach.

Tamara Bond is the Director of Trade Association Operations for the management company of Alan/Anthony Inc. In this capacity, she serves as the Membership Director of the Society of Satellite Professionals International, and acts as the staff coordinator for the SSPI Academic Advisory Council.

For SSPI, Tamara has primary responsibility for member communication, dues billing and management, and participation in events and conferences. She has recently convened, along with SSPI Vice President of Education, Prof. Don Flournoy, a joint committee consisting of the Academic Advisory Council and the Scholarship Committee. The joint committee has the goal of transforming SSPI's scholarship program over the next two years into a robust program which successfully attracts new talent into the global satellite industry.

Henry B. Burdg, serves as Director of ATN-Auburn and the Auburn Technical Assistance Center (ATAC). He holds a Bachelor of Aviation Management and the Master of Business Administration degrees from Auburn University. For the past 25 years he has been working with businesses, primarily Alabama manufacturing firms, to assist them in becoming more competitive and efficient. His work involves the application of technology (hard and soft) on a statewide basis and throughout the southeast. He serves on the Boards of Directors of the National Association of Management and Technical Assistance Centers, (NAMTAC) and the American Industrial Extension Alliance (AIEA).

Prior to joining Auburn University, Mr. Burdg was formerly with the engineering firm of Howard Needles Tammen & Bergendoff's, Cleveland, Ohio aviation office. Mr. Burdg is a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) and has conducted some 400+ industry client projects. He has 13 publications in refereed journals and some ten proceedings publications.

Ms. Chandler is the NASA Office of Safety and Mission Assurance Manager for Mishap Investigation, and Human Reliability.  Her responsibilities include the oversight of NASA mishap investigations and the development of NASA mishap investigation policy, requirements, training, tools, and methods.  She chairs the NASA Mishap Investigation Working Group, a group of experienced accident investigators, working to implement improvements in the process and tools. 

In the area of Human Reliability, Faith is responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of an agency-wide Human Reliability Program that focuses on human systems integration and error management.  In this capacity she oversees the development of human reliability directives, requirements, standards tools, methodology, and training.

Don Flournoy is Professor and Director, Institute for Telecommunications Studies, Ohio University. He is Editor of the Online Journal of Space Communication and serves as Education VP of the Society of Satellite Professionals International. Long ago, he had the honor of serving as the dissertation chair of the distinguished aviator and scholar Dr. Randy Johnson.

Dr. Hanna's practical business experience includes extensive background in performing transportation supplier selection/evaluation, cost/price analysis, negotiation with third-party logistics providers, and auditing supplier contracts. Prior to working in the purchasing area, Dr. Hanna worked in transportation accounting where he dealt with transportation freight rates, negotiations with carriers, updating and maintaining computer freight rate data bases, scheduling/routing optimization, and participating in transportation strategy and logistics optimization planning.

Dr. Hutto became Airport Director for the Auburn-Opelika Robert G. Pitts Airport on August 1, 2001.  At the airport, he is responsible for its overall management, including marketing, public relations, planning, budget preparation/management, consultant management, construction, and personnel issues.  In addition, he is responsible for operation of the fixed base operation that provides all aircraft and pilot services.  He is also teaches Airport Management as an adjunct instructor at Auburn University in the Aviation Management and Logistics Department.

Dr. Jahera is the author of more than sixty articles in a variety of journals including the Journal of Financial Research, the Journal of Law, Economics & Organization, Research in Finance, the Journal of Real Estate Finance & Economics and the Journal of Banking & Finance. The primary focus of his research has been in the area of corporate governance and more specifically anti-takeover strategies. In addition, he has conducted research in the banking area. He currently serves on the Editorial Board of Corporate Finance Review. He is a member of a number of organizations including the Financial Management Association, the Southern Finance Association, Healthcare Financial Management Association, Eastern Finance Association, and the American Finance Association.

After retiring from the U.S. Army as a Colonel with 32.5 years of service, Professor Johnson was employed as a member of the Aviation Management faculty in the College of Engineering because of his Aviation and Air Traffic Control expertise along with his engineering background. From the beginning, Professor Johnson was assigned a 100% teaching and service workload. He taught a full load of academic courses from Winter 1989, through Spring 2000. Beginning Fall 2000, he was appointed as the Chair of the Aviation Management and Logistics Department in the College of Business.

Professor Johnson's research has appeared in such journals as the Journal of Air Transportation, Space Policy and the Online Journal of Space Communication. He is the editor of the first edition of the Online Journal of Space Communication and serves as the coordinator for future editions. He currently serves as co-chair of the Academic Advisory Counsel of the Society of Satellite Professionals International. His research interests include aerospace safety and regulation. He has presented at the University Aviation Association, the World Transport Research Society and the National Space Education Workshop.

Professor Johnson is member of a number of professional organizations including the Council on Aviation Accreditation, National Aeronautic Association and the Society of Satellite Professionals International. Professor Johnson began university service after completing twenty years as a military aviator. He holds an Airline Transport Pilot certificate as well as a Commercial Rotorcraft (Helicopter, Instrument) and Single-Engine (Instrument) certificate. Additionally he is a Certified Flight Instructor (Instrument, Multi-Engine).

Major General Theodore “Ted” Mallory III serves as ASTAR’s Senior Vice President of Flight Operations and Chief Safety & Security Officer. He is responsible for overseeing flight operations and serving as the airline’s chief safety and security officer.

Prior to joining ASTAR in June 2004, General Mallory served as an Aviation Safety Inspector for the Federal Aviation Administration. He is a retired senior captain and chief pilot from Northwest Airlines, holds an Air Transport Rating, and pilots his own aircraft. He has over 15,000 hours flying experience including 10,000 hours as a pilot in command. General Mallory has an extensive business background, a very distinguished military service record, and strong academic credentials in both civilian and military leadership.

General Mallory has been publicly recognized with numerous honors that testify to his outstanding career accomplishments and abilities. He is the recipient of the 2001 Meritorious Service Award from the Employer Support Guard and Reserve, the 2001 Department of Defense Distinguished Service Medal, the 2001 Northwest Airlines Presidents Award, and the 2005 Global War on Terrorism Service Medal from the Department of the Air Force.

Dr. Joseph N. Pelton is Director of the Space and Advanced Communications Research Institute (SACRI) at George Washington University. This Institute and its lab is currently conducting state-of-the-art research on advanced satellite system concepts, broadband wireless information systems and security as well as research on the safety of the Space Shuttle, the International Space Station and advanced space transportation systems. He also currently serves as the President of the Global Legal Information Network (GLIN) Foundation which originates from the Law Library of Congress.
